The NRA FIRST Steps Rifle Orientation is one of several NRA class courses in civilian firearm training available to the public. It is designed specifically for the novice users of rifles providing students with basic firearm instruction, teaching them responsibility and safety when using a rifle. This 3 hour NRA class course includes classroom instruction and hands-on range time teaching students the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, particular rifle model parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, cleaning the rifle, and opportunities for continuing skill development. Students are provided with a safe learning environment and lots of attention since there are only 4 students maximum per class. As a part of the course, students will have instructional materials they can take home with them to review including the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and Winchester / NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet. Students will also be given a FIRST Steps Course completion certificate at the end of the class.
